Staff Spanish/English Interpreter Request Form
Families may request a translated copy of the handbook. A machine translated copy of the handbook, or requested specific sections, will be provided within one week of a request. Families may also request an interpreter to explain sections of the handbook orally. Requests will be met in a timely manner and may utilize the phone interpreting system, Global Interpreting Services.
Las familias pueden solicitar una copia traducida del manual. Spanish Classes Professional Development Opportunity for Staff Members
The local nonprofit, El Puente, will periodically offer beginner level and intermediate level Spanish courses. Searcy Public Schools staff that are interested in participating need to monitor communication from the District ESOL office for notice of when these classes are available and are responsible for completing all required applications and paying the registration fee.
Reimbursement:
As funds allow, staff can apply for reimbursement of the registration fee after completing the course and meeting the minimum attendance requirement..
Staff who meet these requirements need to submit a copy of their certificate of completion as well as proof of meeting the minimum attendance requirement to the ESOL director. This may include a copy of sign-in sheets or a signed verification letter from El Puente.
Professional Development:
Staff who wish to count these hours towards their professional development,
Need to get approval from their building level administrator.
Include this in their Professional Growth Plan for how it will assist in meeting the needs of the students and families they serve.
Ensure their goal is aligned with their School Level Improvement Plan.
Are responsible for manually adding the hours to their ESC Works account and maintaining appropriate documentation of completion of the course and hours.
